Final packing – leaving tomorrow!

Finally, almost packed!  Below you can see what I consider the most important items  to take to Africa. I might have forgotten many things, but with those I should survive.

Packing before Kenya - the most important items to take

  • Digital camera with a 300mm lens
  • waterproof camera
  • mask and snorkel
  • headlamp
  • hat protecting from the sun
  • sunscreen
  • anti malaria medicaion
  • good insect repellent (DEET)
  • mosquito net
  • rechargable mosquito rocket (my weapon!) : )
  • Kenya guides
  • travel journal
  • good binoculars
  • documents and cash
  • Kenyan visa (will be bought at the Mombassa airport)
Should be enough. Hope I didn’t forget something crucial. Sure I did! Kaenon sunglasses and 2 Wenger Swiss Army pocket knifes. They are are already packed, so not on the picture: )
Everything is ready. Now I will need a good sleep (yeah! sure, going to Africa and I can sleep?) I will probably watch another movie tonight. In the past three days I have seen the classic ‘Out of Africa’, starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford. Then a really sad movie about genocide in Ruanda from 1994 ‘Hotel Ruanda’ and last but not least, beautiful German production film ‘Nowhere in Africa’.
Reading guides before the departure was impossible, so I will take them to the hand luggage. And of course, how could I forget! I am taking the travel edition of SCRABBLE with me! All in all, thanks to them we are going : ))

About Zofia Drapella

I always seek adventures, but want them to be meaningful (usually related to science, marine biology, teaching). I so often find myself in the most amazing circumstances and incredible places with inspiring people. I genuinely consider myself to be the luckiest person in the world... I love nature, oceans, mountains, jungles. I try my best to capture what I have the privilege to see/experience and share it with others.

Dziękuję Julka! Będziemy uważać. Na szczęście Tata leci z nami, wiedziałam, że nas z mamą samych nie zostawi w Kenijskim buszu! Trzymajcie się tutaj wszyscy :*

  2. Sounds so exciting! Can’t wait for further posts 🙂
